Weekly Service Checklist

The Sunday run, start to finish. This page is meant to be worked through on the day — it carries the steps, not the explanations.

1. Before the service

Work down in signal path order — mixers first, then the interface, then software.

Behringer X2442USB

• Ch 7–8 muted, faders down — these are the only unused channels. Ch 9/10 is PC audio and Ch 11/12 is the conga [3.1]
• +48V phantom power ON — the Audix F9 conga passes no signal without it [2.5]
• Gains set to the baseline table, then faders to unity before balancing [3.3]
• Sub 1/2 SUB TO MAIN on · Sub 3/4 SUB TO MAIN off [3.2]
• Sub 3/4 faders matched, starting 3–5 dB below unity [2.3]
• FX Return Aux 3 knob at zero — the single knob in the Stereo Aux Returns section, right side of the mixer, not a per-channel control [3.7]
• Aux 4 send at zero on every channel except Ch 15/16 keys — Aux 4 feeds the keyboard wedge [2.7]

Alto TrueMix 600

• CH3 kick — GAIN 12–1 o'clock, LOW 1–2 o'clock [4.1]
• MAIN OUT 12–1 o'clock [4.2]

Xvive U4 in-ear monitors

• Both units on separate channels A / B — vocals and drums [2.6]
• Transmitters set to AUX mode, not LINE — LINE gives a weak signal [2.6]
• Transmitters at least 1 metre apart, away from LED rigs and USB [2.6]
• Batteries charged on all transmitters and receivers

UMC202HD

• Plugged in — PC recognises it
• LINE/INST set to LINE on both inputs [2.3]
• PAD pressed in on both inputs [2.3]
• Both gain knobs matched, starting at 12 o'clock [2.3]

OBS

• Audio source is UMC202HD Input 1/2 and the meter is moving [5.1]
• Five filters present, in order — Noise Gate → Expander → ReaEQ → ReaComp → Limiter [5.1]
• Levels on: speech −18 to −12 dB, singing peaks −12 to −6 dB, nothing touching 0 dB [6.1]
• L and R meters even — if not, check Sub 3/4 faders and channel PAN [2.3]

Cakewalk Next

• "Suspend audio engine when app loses focus" is OFF — if on, recording stops the moment you switch to OBS [5.2]
• New project created, named SundayWorship-DDMMMYYYY [5.2]
• Mic/Line In track inserted, Track Inspector shows IN 1-2 [5.2]
• Two green meter bars when audio plays — confirms stereo, not mono [5.2]

Go live

• Restream destinations active — YouTube and Facebook [5.1]
• Start Streaming in OBS [5.1]

2. During the service

Streaming

• Monitor the OBS audio meter — singing peaks should sit −12 to −6 dB
• Nothing should touch 0 dB — the limiter should be catching peaks

Recording

• Press M to drop a marker at the start of each worship song
• Press Record when worship starts
• Stop and restart for each new song — keeps files under 220 MB
• Press Ctrl + S to save after each song

If speech sounds low when no instruments are playing

• Increase Ch 1 COMP to 10 o'clock on the Behringer
• Nudge the Ch 1 fader up 2–3 dB
• Do not adjust the OBS expander output gain — see the warning in 5.1

3. After the service — export and upload

1. File → Export → Audio
2. Set Channels to Stereo — check this every time
3. Set Format to MP3
4. Set Bitrate to 320 kbps
5. Export each song between its markers
6. Keep the original WAV project file as the master — always export to MP3 for sharing

Forgot the markers? The waveform shows quiet sections (speech and silence) against loud ones (singing and instruments). Use that to find the song boundaries and drop markers after the fact, before exporting.
